MOTI HORENSTEIN JOINS US TEAM LINEUP

Hanshi Moti Horenstein has more titles than we can start counting, including the fact that he was the first Israeli-American to fight in the UFC. He is the no-holds-barred champion for several different Thai World Championships, held in Thailad and Europe, Israel and in the United States.

Hanshi Horenstein joined The US Martial Arts Team as the Sport Jiu JItsu Coach and will be competing for the team in the No Gi SJJ Heavy Weight Division. He runs his academy out of Miami, Florida with his wife teaching Hisardut Survivial and other disiplines.

MACHADO JOINS TEAM USA

Professor Carlos Machado, Dallas, Texas

Professor Carlos Machado, 8th degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, has joined the US Martial Arts Team. Professor Machado will perform as the Texas Area Regional Coach and the National BJJ Coach for the Team.

Professor John Machado, out of California will assist his brother and support the team as well.

This is a very big step for the US Martial Arts team as we hope to bring a bigger international BJJ aspect to our games and Professor Machado will be able to assist in this arena.

US REGIONAL TEAM TRAINING

Sunday, January 24, 10-4

The Florida regional area has scheduled an official US Team Training with Regional Coach, Shihan Donna Judge and Team Captain, Sensei Sonie Lasker.

Please be at the Training Center at 10:00 ready to work out! Training will be Sunday, Januray 24th, from 10am – 4 pm.

If you need accommodations for Friday night, please contact Team Captain Sonie Lasker.

Bring the gear necessary for your divisions. As of now, every team member that qualified is allowed between 1-3 divisions depending on their position on the team and has been selected for specific positions.

US MARTIAL ARTS TEAM QUALIFIER

2010 WORLD MARTIAL ARTS GAMES

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK

Where: Sho Shin Dojo
1115 E. Main St.,
Door #1, 2nd Floor
Rochester, NY 14609
When: Saturday, 1/16/10
And Sunday, 1/17/10

Times: Registration begins at10:30am.

Qualifier begins at 11:00 am.

Cost: Saturday Qualifier, $40. Fee includes all divisions.
Sunday Team Trial, $20. Fee includes all divisions.
Spectators: $10 each day or $15 for 2 day pass.

This is an official qualifier for the US Martial Arts Team. It will not be conducted as a tournament. The coaches and staff will be examining your skill as they see fit to determine your ability to be part of the US Team.


We select based upon ability, responsibility, Character and sportsmanship. We are sports ambassadors and are looking for people to represent the United States of America.

Greetings all,


Thank you for your interest in the US Martial Arts Team. We hope to see you at our qualifier.
The time listed for the first day of the qualifier is incorrect. It begins at:

10:30 am on January 16 at Shoshin Dojo in Rochester, NY.

If you are invited past the the first stage, which is a camp, you will be asked to return to Shoshin Dojo and go through

trials for the Team on the 17th.


Selection committee for the NY area is:

Regional Coach, Shihan Avi Nardia


Please come with everything you need for your divisions.
If you are a forms/weapons competitor, please come in proper attire. If you are a

weapons competitor, please bring your weapon.


*** If you are a musical forms/weapons competitor YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN MUSIC BOX AND MP3 OR DVD PLAYER. WE DO NOT PROVIDE MUSIC. **


For all sparring divisions, please bring headgear, mouthguards, chest and/or groin protectors, hand and footgear. If you are missing gear when you are called to a match, you will be disqualified from the camp and from Trials.

For all grapplers and sport jiu jitsu competitors: please have your FULL GI and BELT with you.


All athletes need to bring water and/or sports drinks and some form of snacks with them as well as a towel.


Spectators are welcome at a $10 spectator fee.
